| Description | : | Maximizing the natural lighting and ventilation has been the primary aim of the project submitted to the national competition opened by Duzce Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Accordingly, offices were located around the perimeter of the building whereas the circulation areas were planned alongside the central atrium.
Circulation hall on the ground floor was designed as an “inner street” that is an extension of the pedestrian route around the building.
The multipurpose hall was solved as a separate load bearing system under the atrium void divided from the rest of the structure with dilatations.
Considering the rainy climate of the region, the roof is designed as a sloping one that provides high volumes in the executive floor.
Referring to the region historically being the source of timber for the Ottoman navy, and the heritage of local wooden architecture, thermowood was chosen as the façade cladding.
Wooden sun breakers were placed in front of the south and southwest facing façades. The skylight on top of the atrium was clad with semi-transparent photovoltaic glass.
